Becoming A Sister

Sister, Regional, Sisters of Nazareth, CA, USA

God has called each of us to a life of joy. For some women that means marriage and children; some embrace the single life. Others are called by God to be his bride.

The first step is to be open and aware of our true selves, we need to know what makes us tick and to become better at understanding the stirrings of God within our hearts.

Keeping a journal is a good way to track your feelings. Speaking with a trusted family member or friend is another tool to discover what’s in your heart. All of us as Sisters once were faced with the same questions and doubts you are feeling. We welcome questions and are happy to talk about our journeys to becoming a Sister of Nazareth. If you are honest with yourself and ask the right questions, chances are you will make the right decision for your life. There are so many questions, we offer a few to help you begin your reflection and discovery:

  • What makes me happy?
  • Is what I do life-giving for me?
  • Is community living for me?
  • How can I best use my gifts to serve God?
  • Have I felt a pull to the religious life?

Young people must say to the world: to follow Christ is good; to go with Christ is good; the message of Christ is good; emerging from ourselves, to the ends of the earth and of existence, to take Jesus there, is good!
