Celebrating St. Patrick’s Day
For Saint Patrick’s Day, the Kiwanis Club of Los Angeles came to Nazareth House Los Angeles to brighten the day of the residents.
Members of the Club and a group of students from Hamilton High School Key Club brought all the materials needed to host a “Pillow Making Extravaganza” The Kiwanis Club gave each resident a green top hat and provided all the necessary materials for make green plaid pillows!
With the assistant of the Hamilton High students, residents measured, cut, stuffed, and trimmed their pillows. Of course, when the work was accomplished; all had to pose for a photo displaying their handiwork.
The Kiwanis is a community service club. Some of their more well-know projects include the Annual California Coastal Clean-up Day, support for Urban Voices (music therapy program on Kid Row; and Project ROPA, just to name a few. The Club also sponsors community service clubs on high school and college campuses.
The Music Family Players
Then, the Music Family Players came to entertain the Residents. The Music Family Players enjoy performing at different facilities. The group started with students in a String Class at Santa Monica College and continued to grow! Their repertoire consists of popular songs, classical music, traditional music, and holiday music which varies depending on the venue.
The Residents enjoy listening to Irish traditional and not so traditional music.
