I come from a family of three girls, and I am the youngest. From a young age, I felt a deep desire to become a religious Sister, a calling inspired by the Daughters of Calvary Sisters at our parish. Their prayer life, hospitality, and ministry left a lasting impression on me.
As a child, I would often stay with the Sisters, praying the rosary and practicing for Sunday Mass. Their joy and commitment filled me with hope, and I dreamed of working with children as a Sister one day. My mother thought I would eventually join the Daughters of Calvary Sisters, but God had a different plan for me.
During high school, my desire to become a Sister faded. I started to dream of becoming a policewoman and having a family with one child. But even then, I remained deeply involved in the church, attending singing courses and conducting the choir every Sunday. Parishioners often told me, “One day, you will be a great Sister because of your devotion.” I always responded, “If it pleases God.”
Vocation is a mystery. We are all called by the Lord to serve Him and His people in different ways. There is always joy and peace in the house of the Lord. We must pray, listen, and let God’s will be done.
While I was in ‘A’ levels, I attended vocation promotion workshops organized by the Franciscan Sisters and the Daughters of Calvary Sisters. I went to a “Come and See” retreat with the Franciscan Sisters, but I didn’t feel God was calling me to their way of life. So, I continued praying and discerning where God wanted me.
One day, I came across leaflets about the Sisters of Nazareth in church. After three months of prayer and discernment, I found the courage to reach out to one of the Sisters in Harare, Zimbabwe. After some time, I was invited to a “Come and See” retreat in February 2017, where I spent two months with the Sisters.
Afterward, I returned home, still discerning God’s plan for me. Eventually, I joined the Sisters of Nazareth and was received as a Candidate on June 16, which was a moment of great joy for me.
I continued my journey with the Lord and was received as a Novice on October 7, 2018, in London, where I lived for two years. On September 24, 2020, I made my vows of Chastity, Obedience, and Poverty. I am currently a Sister in temporal vows, still discerning my journey with God. At the moment, I am in Johannesburg, working with children.
