It is great to see how well everyone has settled in to our new abode – both residents and staff! While it was great to get into our new building with all the extra comfort, dignity and privacy it provides for residents, we all still had to adjust on lots of different levels and it was not without its teething problems! So many thanks to residents, staff, sisters and families for the help, cooperation and patience with the process! The refurbishment of the old building will continue when the builders return from work on the 7th of January. This work includes a new convent for the Sisters and offices for the Regional team. From the Nursing Home perspective, we will finally have our new chapel, a small laundry for personal clothing and hall/training room for the use of the nursing home. The coffee shop will acquire a window in the kitchen area and the existing hairdressers will be given a facelift. Our present chapel will then revert back to an activities room and Larmenier will extend to a thirty bedded household. Gahan household will acquire a thirtieth bedroom bringing up our occupancy from our present 104 residents to 120. We have no date as yet for the completion of this work, but we will definitely have it completed by this time next year!
