The Generalate Archive is not open to the public and does not have facilities for personal searchers, although exceptions may be made for academic researchers by prior arrangement.

The Generalate Archive was set up in 1994 by Dr Peter Hughes at the request of Mother Bernard Mary Murray, Superior General. From very small beginnings – a single small box of papers – the Archive has grown exponentially over the ensuing years and is now housed in the Nazareth Heritage Centre.

The Nazareth Heritage Centre was opened on the 24th September, 2020, by Bishop Michael Campbell OSA. The Centre holds the history, records, documents, artefacts, portraits, photographs and information of the founding and continuation of the Congregation of the Sisters of Nazareth. Together with the Congregation’s Archive, the Centre is housed in a former school of the Congregation. The collection is displayed in four different sections:

Every day the Sisters of Nazareth pray for their benefactors and those who ask for their prayers through the intercession of Victoire Larmenier, also named Mother St Basil, their Foundress.

Victoire’s life shows us that the deep mystery of God’s love works in so many complex and interconnected ways throughout history. This effects each of us personally, and encourages us to a compassionate solidarity that transcends place and time.
